Brannock islands mark
the westerly head of the Aran Islands and the access to the the
Galway Bay. It's a desolated and isolated place from the rest of
the Inishmore island. From the Mweeleenareeava coast, it's
common to see some seals. From the slipway, at the end of the
road, the shape of the Eeragh lighthouse can be seen. It was
built on the Rock Island in 1857 to replace the original
Inishmore lighthouse (1818 - 1857) whose remains lie near Fort
Dún Eochla at the highest
point of the island. |
