St. Benan's Church - Teampall Bheanáin

Aran Islands - Oileáin Árann - Inishmore - Inis Mór - Co. Galway - Ireland

Teampall Bheanáin (St. Benan's Church) sits on top of a hill in Killeany, and is reputed to be the smallest church in the world, at 10.75 x 7ft and its gables are approximately 15 feet high. It is also notable for the fact that it is facing north-south rather than east-west, It dates from the 11th Century, and is dedicated to Saint Benignus, a disciple and successor of St. Patrick.
